This year we travelled from Vlorë to Tirana, a 3 ½ hour drive one way, to celebrate Thanksgiving. This was also our full mission zone conference. Sister Smith and I helped put together the dinner while the missionaries held their zone conference. At 1:30 PM we had the Thanksgiving meal was the traditional American buffet made with turkey, mashed potatoes, yams, stuffing, grave, and plenty of it. The Elders and Sisters each brought their favorite desserts which filled up two large tables.
After we ate Thanksgiving dinner everyone was too full to eat any dessert so all the missionaries went up stairs to watch Toy Story 3. Sister Smith and I watch the first 5 minutes and then went down and helped with the cleaned up a little and talked with President and Sister Neil. After the movie everyone came down to eat dessert but we were still too full to eat any even though it all looked so good. We then helped clean up and waited for the Vlorë Sister missionaries who were going to ride home with us to Vlorë.
On the way out of Tirana there was a car that ran into the side of our Makinë (car) and that took us another hour before we arranged everything with the other driver, mission home and Policemen. We left in the morning at 6 AM and arrived back in Vlorë at 9:30 PM a very long but wonderful Thanksgiving day.
